I am the mother of a 3 yr old who is glued to me most of the time. We were drawing tonight and I told her it was time to get ready for bed. She was wet, so I was changing her. She was trying to watch TV, and I said, "Turn over, honey, and she looked at me and said, "I DON'T LIKE YOU." I told her that was ugly, got her into her jammies, and told her she was in time out with no TV. You don't talk to Mommy like that. My husband freaked because he can't stand to be in the dark...We have streetlights, and it's hardly dark. He made her apologize to Mommy, but I feel that 2 minutes alone in the dark w/ no TV in her bedroom would have gotten the point across if he had backed me up. He gets aggravated with her in the morning because she is whiny...I don't have a problem with that becuase I'm whiny in the morning as well. But you don't tell your mother "I don't like you," and then say, "HOLD ME HOLD ME!" in the same breath. I realize that she was tired, but I wanted to let her know it was wrong to talk to me like that. Was I wrong or was my husband? Oh and by the way, she put her arms around my husband's neck and said, "Mommy's mad at me." She so plays us...I have told my husband over and again we have to be united.
Any Thoughts or advice?

Disruptive 1st grader

My son is having a real hard time behaving in school. He does very well in academics, but mostly gets bad marks in behavior and self control. He disrupts other students in class, often gets seperated from the rest of the class. This isn't new, he was the same in Kindergarden and preschool, so it's not the teacher. I've taken things he likes away, i've given him incentives to work for, nothing seems to work when he's at school. Otherwise he's a very good boy. Any advise, or something that's worked for someone else, is greatly appreciated.
